Performance TEAMS Audition Date and Time
2^nd thru 4^th grades Monday May 20th, 4:00-5:15 pm

5^th thru 7^th grades Monday May 20th, 5:15-6:30 pm

8^th thru 12^th grades Tuesday May 21st, 4:00-5:15 pm

*Your dancer may be asked to come an additional time, to audition with another age group. AUDITIONS ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. ONLY DANCERS AND JUDGES ARE TO BE IN STUDIO #1 AFTER REGISTRATION.

AUDITIONS

Warm-ups, stretches, across the floor technique, then we’ll teach a short combination and will have dancers perform it in groups of 4. We’re looking for strength and flexibility, strong dance technique in leg lifts, turns, leaps and in the demonstration of the choreography. SHOWMANSHIP is extremely important---SMILE!!!

PLEASE REMEMBER that you are auditioning for a performance group. Therefore, we expect a certain skill level for each age group. As with any audition we will only be accepting a certain amount of dancers. All applicants should use this audition as an opportunity to grow as a dancer.

Team Descriptions

PETITE TEAM

Was created to provide younger, talented dancers with more performing experience, in primarily local venues such as ball games, retirement centers, Christmas Festivals, shopping centers and parades. They will compete at ONE local dance competition.

JR. & SR. TEAMS

Our older performance TEAMS are for dancers who “live, eat, drink and breathe” dance; who hold dance as their most important extra-curricular activity. If you are a dancer who is involved in sports or cheerleading (and/or many other activities) then our Performance TEAMS are not for you. It would be better for you to be in a regular dance class where you could enjoy performing without the commitment that a performance team requires.

*You can look forward to any of the following: Labor Day and Spud Day Parade, Festival of Trees, Retirement Centers, High School Boys’ and Girls’ half-time performances and other local events. They will compete at ONE local dance competition.

PARENT MEETING

There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for parents of our performance TEAM dancers (at least one parent per dancer) WEDNESDAY May 22nd, any time between 3:00-5:30pm in the studio. Parents will need to bring their check books.

CLASSES

TEAM dancers will meet once a week as a team. IN ADDITION: TEAM members are required to take and perform with an additional ballet/jazz class, ballet or technique class. Members will start technique and TEAM classes in August. Regular classes will start Sept. 4th.

FUND RAISERS

To help performance TEAM dancers acquire the necessary funds needed for uniforms and costume fees, information for a variety of fund raising programs will be offered. Fund raisers are optional.

ATTENDANCE

Please read and sign the Attendance Contract provided with the Parent Form so you can understand the challenges presented when dancers are not in class or not at performances.

PRICES

In addition to classes and corresponding costumes ($85-$98), TEAM dancers will need to pay for the following: Warm-ups and class wear- around $88 and Tan Gore Boots -$36 (can be purchased through the studio).

Each dancer who auditions will need to BRING: $5.00 registration fee per audition and a signed copy of the Parent Form. Since we’ll be dancing through dinnertime, eat before coming and bring a quick snack.

Each dancer who auditions will need to WEAR: On top: BLACK tight tank top or leotard, no loose T-shirts. On bottom: BLACK dance pants or tights. Shoes: Jazz shoes or ballet slippers. Wear your hair back and out of your face. Look professional.
